Gerald Scott
Vice President
Gerald first joined First
Community Development in 1999. He has over thirty years
experience in managing annual and capital campaigns for such
diverse groups as Junior Achievement, chambers of commerce,
economic development foundations, Georgia Society of CPAs
Educational Foundation and the American Shakespeare Center
in Staunton, Virginia. He has also traveled to Hungary,
Moldova and Belarus to assist business, government and
education leaders in establishing free market economic
education programs for students, and conducted free market
training for more than one hundred young Russian
entrepreneurs through an exchange program.
Most of his adult life has been
dedicated to working to improve the quality of life for
others through raising funds for education, economic
development and the cultural arts. Gerald has managed
campaigns throughout the Southeast, raising a total of more
than $34 million to meet local community needs.
Gerald was a pioneer in developing
Telemarketing Campaigns in the mid-80s. The model developed
for Junior Achievement of Georgia became the standard for
Junior Achievement fundraising throughout the nation.
With over thirty years experience
working with top business executives, government officials,
educators and civic and professional groups, Gerald has
developed a unique ability to relate to, inspire and
motivate volunteers to succeed in the task at hand. He sees
this work as a way of utilizing his talents to assist others
in meeting their capital needs for programs and facilities,
benefiting future generations.
Gerald is a past Trustee of the Georgia Society of
Association Executives (GSAE) Foundation, past board member
of the Cherokee Child Advocacy Council, and has been active
in numerous other non-profit, educational and community
organizations. He has also been a member of both Rotary and
Kiwanis. He presently chairs the Mentoring Program for GSAE.
On his own time and without compensation, Gerald helped
raise over $150,000 in the summer of 2002, to endow a
scholarship in Larry Munson’s name at the University of
Georgia. Gerald and his wife, Sally, have lived in the
Roswell area since 1980. They have two daughters, a son and
five grandchildren. Gerald majored in Business at Middle
